Our University Rankings

For three consecutive years appearing in international rankings on sustainable development, Lac Hong University (LHU) continues to affirm its orientation of linking education with social responsibility and innovation. As global higher education increasingly shifts toward sustainability, rankings such as WURI (World University Rankings for Innovation) and THE (Times Higher Education) Impact Rankings have become important benchmarks reflecting the societal impact of educational institutions.

  • 1. LHU’s Achievements in the THE Impact Rankings: Measuring Success in Sustainable Development

  • The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings measure universities' success in contributing to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This ranking evaluates institutions across four key areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching, specifically focusing on their impact on societal issues such as climate action, quality education, and good health.

  • LHU’s THE Impact Rankings 2024 results, with an overall ranking of 1001–1500, highlighting strong performance in Good Health and Well-being (401–600) and No Poverty (801–1000).

  • In the THE Impact Rankings 2025 published by Times Higher Education, Lac Hong University (LHU) continued to be listed globally in the 1501+ band among more than 2,300 ranked higher education institutions. The University achieved results across several indicators, notably ranking in the 801–1000 band for goals related to health, employment, and innovation (SDG 3, SDG 8, SDG 9). This marks LHU’s third consecutive year in the rankings and places it among 16 Vietnamese higher education institutions recognized, demonstrating its sustained efforts in education, research, and community engagement aligned with sustainable development.

THE Impact Rankings 2024: Lac Hong University (LHU) proudly joined the THE Impact Rankings for the first time, placing within the group of 1,001-1,500 worldwide. Notably, LHU achieved an impressive position in SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being, ranking between 401-600 globally. In the 2024 THE Impact Rankings, the university also made a remarkable leap, securing a ranking within the 601-800 band worldwide for SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth. This recognition highlights LHU’s ongoing commitment to improving public health through educational programs, research, and community health initiatives. The university’s sports activities, health education programs, and medical research projects contribute significantly to public health improvement and student well-being.

  • 2. Overview of the WURI Rankings

    WURI is a global benchmark assessing universities’ innovation capacity. Established in 2020, WURI has expanded its evaluation scope across multiple categories, focusing on innovation and societal contributions. Unlike traditional rankings, WURI emphasizes practical contributions to society, including creativity, industrial application, entrepreneurship, and ethical values that drive research and education.

  • LHU ranked in the Top 5 among 50 universities with the best performance in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

    The First WURI Ranking in 2020: This inaugural ranking covered the Global Top 100 and the Top 50 in four key areas: Industrial Application, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Ethical Value, and Student Mobility and Openness. The focus of the ranking is on measuring innovative practices and real-world contributions by universities in various sectors, rather than simply academic achievements.

  • Dynamic Innovation: The Continuous Evolution of WURI: Over the years, WURI has adapted to the evolving needs of higher education. In response to global events like the COVID-19 pandemic, a new category, Crisis Management, was added to assess universities' responses to the crisis. Moreover, the Fourth Industrial Revolution was also integrated into the ranking, reflecting the increasing importance of technology in education. This demonstrates WURI’s proactive approach in responding to contemporary challenges and its dedication to innovation.

  • LHU’s Achievements in the WURI Rankings

    Lac Hong University (LHU) has shown impressive progress over the past three years, securing notable positions in various WURI categories. The university's consistent improvement in ranking highlights its dedication to innovation and its positive influence on the global higher education landscape.

WURI Ranking 2021: LHU ranked 27th in the Top 50 - Ethical Value category (up 6 steps compared to 2020), and ranked 93rd in the Global Top 100 Innovative Universities category.

WURI Ranking 2022: LHU significantly improved its standing, ranking 85th in the Global Top 100 Innovative Universities category (up 12 steps compared to 2021). LHU also ranked 46th in the Top 50 - Industrial Application category, 43rd in the Top 50 - Entrepreneurial Spirit category, 24th in the Top 50 - Ethical Value category (up 7 steps compared to 2021), and 3rd in the Top 50 - Fourth Industrial Revolution category (a first for LHU).

WURI Ranking 2023: LHU maintained its strong position, ranking 74th in the Global Top 100 Innovative Universities category (up 11 steps compared to 2022), and 39th in the Top 50 - Industrial Application category (up 5 steps compared to 2022). However, the university’s rank dropped to 5th in the Top 50 - Fourth Industrial Revolution category (down 5 steps compared to 2022).

WURI Ranking 2024: LHU ranked 79th in the Global Top 300 Innovative Universities category, continuing its strong showing on the global stage.

  • 3. LHU’s Role in Sustainable Development

    The results achieved in international rankings such as WURI and THE Impact Rankings continue to reflect LHU’s development orientation aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The University is progressively integrating sustainability into its education, research, and community service activities, while fostering a stable and socially responsible learning and working environment.

    In the coming period, LHU aims to enhance its contributions to key priority goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). These are considered foundational for improving training quality while expanding both domestic and international collaborations, thereby increasing its tangible impact on society.

    Participation in global rankings is not only for recognition but also serves as a basis for Lac Hong University to benchmark and refine its development strategy in line with international higher education standards. With this orientation, the University continues to strive for higher quality performance and broader contributions to sustainable development.
